Solouhin (Солоухин), Vladimir
Alexeyevich (1924-1997)
Poet. Solouhin was born on
June 14, 1924 in the village of Alepino Vladimirsky into a
peasant family. Solouhin studied at the Engineering School
from 1938 to 1942 and graduated as a specialist in mechanics.
Solouhin served in Moscow, as part of the team that protected
the Kremlin, during World War II. In 1946 his poems were
published in the youth journal Komsomolskaya Pravda. In 1951
Solouhin graduated from the A.M. Gorky Institute of
Literature. In 1953 his first collection of poetry appeared
Rains in the Steppe.
In 1955 Solouhin turned to
prose, and a book appeared The Birth of Zernograd.
Throughout the 1950s until the 1970s Solouhin produced books
of poetry and prose, as well as participating in literary
journals. Solouhin died in Moscow on April 5, 1997 |
