Shipachev (Щипачев), Stepan (1899-1980)

Poet.  Shipachev was born in 1899 into a poor peasent family.  When he was four years old his father died, and life had become very difficult for his single mother and his many siblings.   He fell in love with poetry in church school, where his life for Lermontov was born.

In 1917 he was drafted into the army, and later joined the Bolsheviks.  In 1930 he joined LOKAF, a literary group of army and navy writers.  Shipachev considered his most fruitful decade to have been the 1960s, for his collections of poetry had appeared.  Shipachev died in 1980.
