Akimov (Акимов), Igor Grigoryevich (1957-)


Bard, producer, organizer, archivist, poet.  Akimov was born on June 27, 1957 in Kiev, Ukraine.  Akimov is one of the most active and interesting bards of the post-Soviet period.  In 1981 he graduated from the Leningrad State University, with a degree in mechanics. In 1972 began writing songs, and by 1975 was considered an author.

In 1977 he participated in the theater of the university.   Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Akimov worked in several fields, including as a police inspector and a director of a co-operative from 1989 to 1991 of the production of women's underwear.

Since 1977 a member of the club Meridian.  Organizer of the festival Bard-Regata, which happens on the third weekend of June.   In 1995 an audiocassette appeared, First One-Hundred Years, in 2001 a CD Bard-Regata, and in 2002 another CD Pieces of Clouds.

Akimov is also the founder and president of the bard-club Dialog.
