Admoni (Адмони), Vladimir Georgeyevich (1909-1993)

Poet. Born as Voldemir-Wolf Goyvishevich Krasny in 1909.  From 1960 worked in the Leningrad Institute of Philology.  Editor and translator of the collected works of Ibsen, on which he worked on from 1956 to 1958. Perhaps Admoni’s most important act in the 1960s was his defense of Iosif Brodsky during Brodsky’s infamous trial for “parasitic” work.
