Adamovich (Адамович), Alexander Mihailovich (1927-1994)


Writer. Born on September 3, 1927 in Konuhi, Byelorussia.  Began being published in 1948.  Wrote in both Russian and Byelorussian.  Member of the Soviet Union of Writers.  Many of his early novels dealt with themes particular to the 1960s, such as World War II, War under the Roofs (1960), Sons Leave for War (1963), and The Blockade Book (1979).  Adamovich also wrote books on Russian and Byelorussian literature, such as The Byelorussian Novel (1960), The Basis of Prose (1972), The Horizons of Byelorussian Prose (1974), Literature, and Us and Time (1979).
